Neutron Knights FTC Team
Inspiring Our Community Through Robotics
The Neutron Knights are a second-year FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team made up of students in grades 7–12. Our team is based at the Mason Center for Robotics, which was established in 2024 to provide students in the Mason area with opportunities to participate in competitive robotics programs.
As a team, we believe robotics should be something everyone can experience. Through outreach events, demonstrations, and community activities, we work to introduce students and families to the world of STEM. Our mentors, who have experience in CAD, machining, and programming, help guide us as we develop both our engineering skills and our ability to share robotics with others.
Community Outreach
FTC Information Night
After the Into the Deep season, we hosted an FTC information night for students who wanted to learn more about FIRST and robotics. This event allowed students and their families to see our robots in action and talk directly with our team members about what it’s like to be part of an FTC team.
Our goal was to help younger students discover the opportunities available in robotics and encourage them to get involved in STEM programs.
Mason Center for Robotics Open House
To start the DECODE season, the Mason Center for Robotics hosted an Open House to celebrate the grand opening of our upgraded robotics space.
Visitors were able to explore different robotics programs and watch demonstrations from:
FIRST LEGO League (FLL)
FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC)
Battlebots
Members of our team helped run the demonstrations and explained how robots are designed, built, and programmed.
We were also excited to welcome representatives from VEGA Americas, who attended the event and supported our mission of expanding STEM education in the community.
Mason Heritage Day Parade and Festival
In September, our team participated in the Mason Heritage Day Parade and Festival, one of the biggest community events in our city.
For the parade, we designed and built a custom robot inspired by our team logo and drove it through the parade route. The robot quickly became a favorite among the crowd.
After the parade, we ran a booth at the festival where we:
Sold 3D printed fidgets
Sold Mason chain necklaces
Sold articulated 3D printed animals
Demonstrated our previous competition robot
Visitors were also able to drive our robot themselves, giving them a fun and hands-on introduction to robotics.
iSPACE STEM Outreach
In October, the Neutron Knights participated in an outreach event at iSPACE, where we worked with students to introduce them to robotics and engineering.
During the event, we showed students:
How FTC robots are built
How robots are programmed
How robots are used in competition
What it’s like to be part of a robotics team
This event allowed us to connect directly with younger students and inspire them to explore STEM fields.
Sponsors
Our team would not be able to do everything we do without the support of our sponsors. Their contributions help us build robots, attend competitions, and continue sharing robotics with our community.

As our team continues to grow, we hope to expand to more platforms so we can reach more students and teams around the world.
Looking Forward
Outreach is an important part of our team. As the season continues, we hope to participate in more community events, host additional demonstrations, and inspire more students to get involved in robotics.
Our goal is to keep growing the robotics community and help the next generation discover the excitement of STEM.
